Bio
Daniel (“Dan”) Goldman is an experienced criminal defense attorney who has spent more than fifteen years representing clients in the most serious and complex cases in state and federal courts. His practice includes white collar criminal defense, drug offenses, violent crime allegations, and professional licensing and disciplinary matters.
Dan has defended sophisticated white collar cases involving fraud, financial crimes, and regulatory investigations, as well as high-stakes drug prosecutions ranging from possession to large-scale conspiracies. He also represents clients accused of violent offenses, where early, strategic advocacy and meticulous preparation are critical. In addition, Dan advises and represents professionals facing licensing and disciplinary proceedings, working to protect both their careers and reputations.
As the Capital Defender for Northern Virginia, Dan’s practice focused exclusively on death penalty litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. In that role, he successfully avoided death sentences for every client he represented. Building on that experience, Dan continues to handle trial, appellate, and post-conviction matters, bringing a deep understanding of complex litigation and high-stakes advocacy to each case.
Dan represents clients in state and federal courts throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. He is known for thorough pre-trial investigation, creative and relentless litigation, zealous trial advocacy, and strategic post-conviction representation.
Dan is a 2011 graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was awarded the Oliver White Hill Law Student Pro Bono Award by the Virginia State Bar. He is a member of the Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland State Bars and is admitted to practice in federal courts throughout the region. Dan serves as of counsel to the firm and maintains his own practice in Alexandria, Virginia, www.dangoldmanlaw.com.
